This book delivers a complete introduction to the basic science of polymer nanofibers as well as a review of their diverse applications. The book aims to present an overview of the current status of nanofibers, fabrication and recent trends in the fabrication of nanofibers, and functional nanofibers and applications of nanofibers in various fields including environmental, bio-sensing, drug delivery, catalysis, and medical. Polymer nanofibers are fabricated from both natural and synthetic polymers. Polymer blends are also used to improve biodegradability in medical applications and conductivity in sensors and neural tissue engineering. This book will also present recent developments of polymer nanofiber applications as scaffolds for tissue engineering, wound dressing, drug delivery, filters, protective clothing, sensors, and reinforcement in composite materials.
