Abstract
Food Toxicology is a scientific discipline dedicated to the study of poisons and toxic compounds, known as xenobiotics. Its primary goal is to detect and assess the adverse health effects in humans caused by exposure to various agents whether physical, chemical, or biological agents. This involves analysing the interplay among different disease-causing agents, including viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, pesticides, and other toxic chemicals. Given these risks, food toxicology is essential for understanding how different agents affect human health and for developing risk reduction strategies. This requires thorough research into the sources of toxicity, the mechanisms of toxin action, and the assessment of exposure levels and potential health impacts.
