Abstract
The interest in the crisis of identity representation, experienced by modern man via his dwelling, is effectually expressed through this research which is axed on the study about Algerian traditional habitat and particularly about the vernacular habitat of the city of Bou-Saâda. In the contemporary architectural context, it is known that the characterization of the vernacular components of regional habitat can be achieved, only, by its critical questioning in front of today’s way of living. Thus how, about our case of study : Bou-Saada, it became clear that this identity crisis is partly due to the French colonialism remains and partly to the negative effects of foreign cultures, brought via the media and impregnating the Bousaadi’s community. According to this, the result of the identity crisis is the dislocation of the architectural language of nowadays habitat. At first, we could deal with such a fact within a theoretical approach through the doctrine of Critical Regionalism, which secondly brings forward to the study of the tectonic particularities of Bousaadi’s habitat. Finally, the aiming at the cultural actualization of oneself via architecture, leads to the necessity of displaying "original tectonics layer", being transformed because of an architectural crisis into "tectonics fossilized layer’’. As so, the importance of tectonics proves to be an issue "positively" inevitable for the redressing of the architecture of Bousaadi contemporary habitat.
