Abstract

The SARS-CoV-2 virus, a member of the Coronaviridae family, emerged in China in late 2019 and caused a global pandemic called COVID-19 in a matter of months. Having paralysed all activities throughout the world, this pandemic has been the subject of several studies. Our study is a descriptive mono-centric study which aims to analyze the data of subjects who have performed a positive RT-PCR test at the COVID-19 laboratory at the CHU Saadana Abed El Nour in the wilaya of Setif during the period from November 2020 to May 2022. Out of a total of 3922 samples, 1977 cases were positive. The analysis of these positive cases revealed a slight female dominance with 1009 cases (51.88%) and an average age of 52 years. The department with the highest percentage of confirmed cases was ELEulma. The development of the pandemic in the wilaya of Setif has seen three significant peaks recorded in November 2019, July 2020 and January 2021 respectively. Infected persons presented mostly asthenia, fever and cough. HTA and diabetes were the most marked comorbidities.
