| dc.description.abstract | This descriptive, prospective, single-center observational study was conducted in the pediatric department of Sétif University Hospital from December 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026. It aimed to describe the epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical, microbiological, therapeutic, and evolutionary profile of respiratory infections in hospitalized children. The study included 62 children, with an equal distribution between boys and girls and a male-to-female ratio of 1.00. The median age was 2.0 [1.5–3.9] months, with a clear predominance of infants under 3 months of age (62.9%). Admissions were mainly concentrated in December 2025 (46.8%). The clinical presentation was dominated by dry cough (95.2%), rhinorrhea (48.4%), and desaturation, with SpO₂ < 90% in 71.0% of children. Bronchiolitis was the primary diagnosis (75.8%). Microbiological results were positive in 93.5% of patients; RSV was the most frequently identified pathogen (66.1%). Co-detections concerned 37.1% of children. All patients received oxygen therapy and 83.9% received empirical antibiotic therapy. Immediate | |
