Évaluation de la santé écologique et de la structure des cédraies dans la forêt de Megress (Nord du Sétif)

Abstract

This research paper aims to analyze the structure, dendrometric characteristics (height, circumference, and crown width), and health status of the cedar forests of Djebel Megress to promote sustainable management of these ecosystems. The study, conducted on ten plots, reveals significant variations in the density of Atlas Cedar (Cedrus atlantica), ranging from 10 to 36 individuals per 900 m², as well as signs of fragility in certain locations. Observations of yellowed and brown leaves suggest issues related to environmental stress or diseases. The cedar population is predominantly young, indicating a lack of age diversity, which could increase the ecosystem's vulnerability. The results highlight the importance of appropriate forestry management and pave the way for future research on ecological interactions and the impact of climate change on these forests.
