Abstract

Salvia officinalis, is an aromatic plant, which belongs to the family of lamiaceae, one of the most important families of Algerian flora. Our work focuses on the physicochemical study and biological activities of HE of salvia officinalis, which are listed at national institute laboratory level agronomy research (INRA). The study of the chemical composition of HE extracted by the CG-MS m ethode a and e r ealis ee at the toxicology laboratory level of pharmacy savings Setif. HE obtained by a hydrodistiller type Clevenger is yellow in color, smell agr eable acidul e, the average yield obtained is of (0.915±0.317 %). The CG-MS analysis of HE was identified as 22 components, among which the most common were camphor as a major component (58.26%), DL-Camphorquinone (15.31%), carvacrol (7.5%), 1.8-Cin eol(6.91%), Limon`ene(2.67%), (-)-α-Thuyone(1.53%). The study of the antioxidant activity of our oil by the m ethode of DPPH, a and eproved with a percentage inhibition (26.46%) of DPPH, and an IC50 of (275 605 ± 1.933µg/ml). Evaluation of anti-inflammatory activity in Vitro by methode HRBC (red blood cell membrane stabilization procedure) shows that the essential oil has an average anti-inflammatory power with a percentage 57% maximum emolysis inhibition and an IC50 of (417.878±17.62µg/ml). HE of sage showed a higher propri and e antibacterial against Gram bacteria positive S. aureus ATCC 25923 than against Gram-negative bacteria E.coli ATCC 25922 and P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853. Finally, a mouthwash formulation based on Salvia officinalis a and realisee at different concentrations 1%, 2% in order to test them on Streptococcus mutans.
