Abstract
This study highlighted the effectiveness of citrus peels, both raw and calcined, as biosorbents for the removal of paracetamol from aqueous solutions. Characterization results showed that calcination significantly alters the surface properties of the materials by reducing moisture and reversing their acid-base nature. Kinetic studies revealed faster and more efficient adsorption with calcined peels due to increased porosity. Adsorption was found to be temperature-dependent, indicating an endothermic process. The Freundlich isotherm provided the best fit for the experimental data. Calcination greatly enhanced the adsorption performance. This biomaterial appears to be a promising solution for wastewater treatment.
