Abstract

The preparation of chemotherapy products in hospitals, and particularly in cancer centers, requires special centralized units with controlled air and climate within the pharmacies, compliant with Good Preparation Practices (GPP), for several reasons: To separate all staff—pharmacists, nurses, and technicians—from direct contact with cytotoxic products during preparation, administration, or waste management, given their cytotoxic risk; To ensure the quality of chemotherapy treatment while considering patient health; The theoretical part of this work focuses on reviewing cancer, its treatment based on chemotherapy, its risks to the patient, staff, and the environment, and how to centralize its preparation, noting the regulatory framework in Algeria and France. The practical part studies the total cost of discarded chemotherapy product waste in the absence of an isolator for three months.
