Les agriparcs urbains comme modalité durable d’intégration de l’agriculture urbaine à Alger

Abstract

In many Mediterranean cities like Algiers, urban sprawl and the adverse effects of climate change are gradually weakening vast areas of high quality agriculture. In order to adapt to and mitigate the effects of these phenomena, the public authorities have initiated public urban development policies, ranging from the green belt strategy to the 23 agripark policy. The objective of this thesis is to experiment the path of an alternative that exalts the constitution of a sustainable agro-urban territory, which highlights the various ways in which agriculture is expressed in the urban and peri-urban environment. A dual sustainability method (internal and external) proposed by Aubry and Ba is applied and developed in the municipalities of Chéraga and Khraicia, in order to provide a first global diagnosis on the sustainability of urban agriculture present in the agriparks. This allows us to identify several major issues, potentially to optimize the sustainability of urban agriculture, reducing deficiencies and remedying the observed imbalances.
