Abstract

This course manual serves as the teaching material for the Applied Biochemistry course designed for third-year undergraduate students specializing in biochemistry. Covering fundamental concepts that form the basis of applied biochemistry, the manual demonstrates that biological substances can originate from diverse sources—whether plant, animal, or microbial. Applied biochemistry bridges the gap between the biochemistry of natural substances and their applications in various sectors, such as agriculture, the environment, energy production, animal and human nutrition, and healthcare, as well as numerous fields closer to the industrial world (including papermaking, cosmetics, the agri-food industry, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals).
