| dc.description.abstract | This thesis aims to study new synthesis strategies for organic-inorganic hybrid materials, as well as to investigate the multi-scale behaviour of promising coatings based on thermosetting polymers. This investigation is based on a fine and in-depth study using appropriate techniques to understand the reaction mechanisms of sol-gel synthesis, multicomponent reactions, interactions, interfaces and the degradation mechanisms of coated surfaces. Two types of lamellar reinforcements on a micro and nanometric scale, graphene oxide sheets and hybrid graphene based nanomaterials have been used here. In order to improve exfoliation, stability, interactions between the nanorenforts and the thermoset matrix, several synthesis pathways were explored in this work: oxidation of lamellar reinforcements, functionalization and grafting of silica nanoparticles on their surface. The covalent chemistry of oxidized graphene is exploited and studied in this work in order to design, produce, evaluate and characterize new graphene oxide-silicon oxide hybrid materials. We then focused on developing these new hybrid materials in several areas. The scope of this research covers the morphological, thermal, mechanical and evolutionary aspects of the liquid phase exfoliation of graphene oxide and the hybrid synthesized in the epoxy matrix. The fundamental aspects of the interactions between reinforcement matrix interactions, as well as the development of hybrid thin films for applications in tribology and anti-corrosion coatings have also been studied. Finally, a spray coating approach was used to coat the surface of substrates. To this end, the study was completed by electrochemical analyses, mechanical and tribological tests of the inhibitory and protective character of metal surfaces provided by the coatings. | |
