Given the rising incidence of gastrointestinal disorders within society and their major impact on the quality of life, the reliance on phytotherapy has emerged as a significantly prevalent and vital therapeutic alternative for the population. This study represents an ethnobotanical and pharmacognosic contribution to highlighting these medicinal plants utilized in traditional medicine. The adopted methodology relied on conducting a dual field survey, combining direct oral interviews and electronic questionnaires across three regions (Sétif, M'Sila, and Bordj Bou Arreridj) to ensure the diversity and randomness of the sample. The findings reveal that the younger demographic is the most inclined toward these natural remedies, with their choices primarily guided by personal experience and the practical expertise of herbalists. Among the 18 recorded botanical families, quantitative analysis demonstrates a distinct predominance of the Apiaceae, Lamiaceae, and Asteraceae families, comprising a total of 40 medicinal plant species, which users mostly prefer to consume as infusions or decoctions. Consequently, this work establishes the essential scientific foundations for recording these local resources, solidifying the pharmacist's pivotal role in supervising self-medication while opening promising horizons for the development of safe and standardized medicines.
dc.description.sponsorship.
