Abstract

Prosthetic medical devices are essential for improving the quality of life for people who are amputees or suffer from physical disabilities. Effective management of these devices is crucial to ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The management of medical devices, and more specifically orthopedic prostheses, represents a major challenge in University Hospital Centers (CHU), where the treatment of complex pathologies, particularly musculoskeletal disorders, requires high-tech equipment. Orthopedic prostheses, such as those used for hips, knees, or the spine, are essential for improving the quality of life of patients suffering from degenerative diseases, complex fractures, or severe musculoskeletal disorders. Their optimal management is crucial, both clinically and economically, to ensure not only patient safety, but also the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of care. Effective management of medical devices in hospital pharmacies is of critical importance for ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality healthcare. Indeed, these medical devices are often vital elements in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients. Thus, inadequate management could lead to adverse consequences such as medical errors, critical stockouts, or even safety incidents for patients and medical staff. The conclusion is therefore clear: by implementing robust management systems, using appropriate technological tools such as computerized inventory management systems and barcodes, and investing in ongoing staff training, hospital pharmacies can optimize their medical device management. This will allow them to effectively meet patient needs, guarantee the availability of the necessary devices at the right time, and minimize the risks associated with their use. Furthermore, close collaboration with suppliers, the implementation of safety and preventive maintenance protocols, and regular monitoring of the management system's performance also contribute to strengthening the quality and safety of care. Ultimately, efficient management of medical devices in hospital pharmacies is a fundamental element of the healthcare chain, thus contributing to improved clinical outcomes, increased patient satisfaction, and the promotion of a culture of safety and excellence within the healthcare facility.
