Optimisation de la fertilité féminine par les plantes médicinales

Abstract

Infertility in women is a major public health issue, and the use of herbal medicine is common in Algeria. The aim of this study is to inventory the medicinal plants used in the treatment of female infertility by the local population in the Sétif region. An éthnobotanical survey was conducted among 25 herbalists and 51 women at the mother and Child Hospital. Information was collected through a questionnaire, revealing a total of 18 species used by the participants in the Sétif region for infertility treatment. The most commonly used species in this region are Vitex agnus castus, Salvia officinalis, and Origanum majorana. The leaf is the most commonly used part. Infusion is the main method of preparing the remedy, and the majority of plants are used in combination with others. These results provide a database for further studies aimed at evaluating the biological and chemical potential of these plants.
