Abstract
(POM: nano-sized clusters of transition metals with the highest degree of oxidation attached by oxo bridges). Porphyrin(s)/POM@MNP hybrids have been capable of generating a photocurrent on the surface of an electrode under illumination in the visible range. In these systems, the porphyrin subunits have been used as photosensitizers capable of transferring electrons to the POM (strongly oxidizing) under visible irradiation. The hybrid system POM - Porphyrin(s) could be regenerated in the presence of a redox mediator, for example type I3-/I-. These systems have been tested for the generation of photocurrents, on the one hand, and for the formation of nanoparticles with original shapes and properties by photoreduction of metal ions, on the other hand. The illumination in an aerated environment initially allowed the transfer of electrons from the porphyrinic unit to the polyoxometallate and then to the spacers produced an energy cascade leading to the generation of photocurrents.
