L’ARCHITECTURE SOLIDAIRE : CONCEPTION D’UN VILLAGE INTERGENERATIONNEL POUR FEMMES EN DIFFICULTES A SETIF

Abstract

Algeria, despite its legislative advancements in women's rights, still needs to improve support for women in difficult circumstances, especially elderly women, homeless women, divorcees, and widows. These women often suffer from precarious living conditions, exacerbated by patriarchal structures and restrictive social norms. The closure of some shelters has accentuated these problems, underscoring the urgent need to create spaces specifically tailored to their needs. To address this situation, it is essential to design spaces that offer a welcoming, stable environment conducive to the social reintegration of women in difficulty. Objectives include creating permanent and stable residence locations, promoting social integration and community building, as well as empowering women through resources and opportunities for skills enhancement and well-being. The concepts of refuge, solidarity architecture, and social reintegration are central to the design of these spaces. A refuge must provide protection and support, while solidarity architecture focuses on creating spaces that meet community needs, promoting social inclusion, and sustainability. Social reintegration aims to help women in difficulty regain their dignity and an active role in society. Thus, improving infrastructure and support programs for women in difficulty in Algeria is crucial for their well-being and reintegration into society.
