Abstract
This work forms part of the analysis of electricity distribution networks with regard to reducing active losses. Unlike transmission networks, distribution networks are unbalanced networks in terms of both lines and loads. These components are not always balanced three-phase; sometimes they are unbalanced, two-phase and single-phase. Although attempts have been made to adapt formulas applicable to the transmission network, such as traditional power flow methods, to distribution networks, the latter require their own calculation methods. For this reason, an efficient and robust power flow calculation code has been developed. This has been incorporated into a multi-objective optimization procedure to reduce active losses based on the cost of reactive energy compensation with voltage regulation, using a meta-heuristic method based on the Jaya algorithm. The optimization procedure and the detailed power flow program were validated on IEEE benchmark networks (4, 13 and 37 bus bars). In addition, two types of distributed sources were used: a wind turbine modeled by a PQ(V) bus bar set and a photovoltaic system modeled by a PV bus bar set
