Abstract

Maxillofacial prosthetic therapy brings together various modalities in the treatment of patients with oral-facial-cranial defects, whose loss of maxillary substance is in most cases the consequence of the removal of tumors from the upper aero digestive tract located at the middle stage of the face. Despite the evolution of surgical techniques of reconstitution and the rise of microsurgery, this type of treatment caused functional and aesthetic aftermath .The aftermath was very heavy with all the psychological repercussions that one can imagine. After these results, in order to restore the main Functions of chewing, phonation, Swallowing and restoration of an aesthetic appearance to the patient. This implies appropriate care and active cooperation of a multidisciplinary team is needed, hence the need for a maxillofacial prosthetic practitioner who is a full member of the interdisciplinary team. In this context, the conventional obturator prosthesis remains topical. Early prosthetic restoration then becomes a necessity and must obey the requirements for this type of prosthesis. It can used before, during or immediately after surgery.
