Abstract

The primary objective of this course is to enable students to master the concepts, methods, and tools required to understand, analyze, and manage issues related to urban forestry within the context of sustainable urban development. Recommended prior knowledge: - Plant ecology and the environment - Natural area management - Basic concepts of urban planning and land-use planning. Learning objectives: 1. Understand the evolution of the international framework for urban forestry by analyzing international conferences and implementation instruments, specifically in Algeria; 2. Analyze the methodological approach for developing a management plan for urban wooded areas; 3. Devise strategies for the design and management of vegetated spaces, distinguishing between different plant categories; 4. Evaluate the role of urban forestry in sustainable city planning; 5. Identify the legal aspects associated with urban forestry management.
