Abstract

The study area is part of the northeast end of the (Maghrebian) chain. The aim assigned to this study is the qualitative characterization of the groundwater of the tellian aquifers of the Guelma region. These perched type aquifers peak at average altitudes of 1000 m. The geochemical study aims to: - To characterize the waters on the regional scale on the basis of hydrofacies: this brings precious information on the identification of aquifer units and the circulation of roundwater as well as on recharge conditions. - To characterize locally the waters on the basis of their portability and the practical problems that certain hydrochemical parameters give on each water point (hardness, corrosive and aggressive nature of the water), in order to determine the type of materials to be chosen for operating facilities. In this approach, the physico-chemical parameters of twelve water points (11 springs and one borehole) were analyzed during periods of high water (December / 2017).The interpretation of the various results obtained made it possible to determine the physical and chemical properties of groundwater. The use of graphical diagrams of water (Stiff, Piper diagram) has made it possible to define the dominant ions responsible for the chemical facies of water and the geological formations at the origin of these facies
