Rôle de la médecine traditionnelle dans la lutte contre la coccidiose aviaire

Abstract

This study addresses avian coccidiosis, a serious parasitic disease caused by protozoans of the genus Eimeria, and its major global economic consequences. It highlights the biology of Eimeria spp. , its complex life cycle and pathogenicity mechanisms, while emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis through morphological and molecular methods. Traditional control methods, such as chemical anticoccidials, vaccines and biosafety, are examined, but their effectiveness is compromised by the emergence of resistances, prompting exploration of new strategies. The potential of traditional medicine and medicinal plants, including flavonoids and essential oils, is highlighted for the treatment and prevention of coccidiosis. The study insists on integrating these natural alternatives into sustainable control programs, after rigorous scientific validation. In conclusion, the thesis proposes a global approach combining traditional knowledge, pharmacological and epidemiological for an effective and sustainable management of avian coccidiosis.
