Mise en valeur d’une collection pétrographique et minéralogique ; le catalogue minéralogique algérien d’Alexandre Papier (Musée d’Hippone, Annaba, Algérie)

Abstract

The petrographic and mineralogical collection of the Hippone Museum in Annaba is among the few Algerian collections in the field of geology; the former director of Hippone Academy Alexandre Auguste Papier between 1867 and 1872 realized it.The author has published a guide for reading the collection named: An Essay of an Algerian Mineralogical Catalog that describes and classifies the samples in this collection. This small work has managed to classify a large part of this collection according to the different types of rocks, minerals and ores; theoretical parts related to the subject was done in order to contribute to the enhancement of this collection. The practical part related to photographic captures, display of the collection and a petrographic and mineralogical study of interesting samples was not carried out because of a bureaucratic problem.
