Abstract
The main objective of this work is to identify the different groundwater layers that characterize the region of Teleghma and Oued Seguin (especially the surface water table), and to determine their hydrochemical characteristics.
As part of the large kebir-Rhumel catchment basin, the sub-watershed (Teleghma-Oued Seguin) occupies a strategically important hydrogeological location, it lies in the northern limit of the Constantine high plains, it covers an area of 245.7 km2, and its altitude is between 631 m at its outlet and 1298 m in the upstream part. The region is subject to a semi-arid climate with a rainy season (in Winters) and a hot season (in Summer). From a geological and hydrogeological point of view, the region is affected by two different types of tectonics (soft and brittle) and characterized by the existence of three aquifer levels each its hydrodynamic properties.The chemical analysis of the water samples (wells, boreholes, and source) and the application of the different diagrams show the hydraulic relationship between the different aquifers (Superficial and deep), and the abundance of sulfated and chlorinated facies, this abundance is mainly related to the presence of Triassic formations (natural pollution) and to agricultural and human activity (artificial pollution).
