Etude épidémiologique de l’hydatidose bovine au niveau de deux abattoirs (Sétif – L’Eulma) et son effet sur certains paramètres sanguins

Abstract

Hydatidosis due to Echinococcus granulosus is a problem that harms public health both by its frequency and its severity, this study highlights the persistence of the infection in the cattle herd. We recorded in the slaughterhouses of Sétif and El Eulma 2.83% cases out of a total of 1165 slaughtered cattle. At the slaughterhouse of Sétif, we recorded 27 cases out of a total of 635, and 6 cases out of a total of 530 in El-Eulma. We confirmed that the extent of the prevalence of this disease depends on several factors, including the age of the cattle and sex, and that in general, it is not influenced by the breed. While the formation of cysts increases in the lungs; the liver or both, depending on the parasite load. On the other hand, bovine hematology was taken into account, as we found that this parasite particularly influences blood parameters such as red blood cells, hemoglobin, and hematocrit, which means the development of anemia in cattle. Therefore, it is necessary to follow all preventive measures to reduce the infection rate and avoid its economic and health risks.
