Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify some parasitic diseases that affect the eye and to understand their spread and diagnosis. Parasitic eye infections are a major cause of eye disease worldwide. The causative agents range from simple organisms such as single-celled protozoa to complex multicellular parasitic worms. This study addresses a group of diseases that affect humans, such as Toxoplasma gondii, Toxocara canis, onchocerca volvulus, Taenia solium The disease spectrum varies depending on the geographical location, the prevailing level of hygiene, the living and eating habits of the population, and the type of animals living around them. These diseases cause high rates of eye morbidity and mortality, not because they are incurable, but because of delayed or incorrect diagnosis, which is often the result of a lack of knowledge of the causative diseases.
