Abstract

The therapeutic management of breast cancer uses hormone therapy, among the treatments most often used fulvestrant, this treatment is used in postmenopausal women with advanced or metastatic breast cancer. Our objective is to evaluate the efficacy of Fulvestrant in the management of visceral and non-visceral metastatic breast cancer, and also to determine the toxicity of this treatment by comparing with other similar studies. For this purpose, we followed 16 patients during the period from 1 December 2021 to 30 April 2022 at the Centre Anti-Cancer du Sétif. According to our results, most of our patients are menopausal, and all are metastatic, the stability of the disease is observed in 56.25 % of patients had visceral metastasis, 6.25% of patients had non-visceral metastasis. Mean PFS for fulvestrant patients with visceral metastasis was longer (10.18 months) than for fulvestrant patients with visceral metastasis (3.4 months), In our study, fulvestrant was found to be more effective in the management of visceral metastasic breast cancer than in the management of visceral metastasic breast cancer. These results are not consistent with previous studies that show otherwise, and the latter is due to the small number of patients followed in our study. Regarding the toxicity of fulvestrant, the majority of our patients show no biological disturbance which confirms the tolerance of fulvestrant that has already been shown in previous studies.
