Contribution à l'étude de minéralisation ferrifère de Djebel Hellel (Nord-Est Algérien)

Abstract

Algeria is a country rich in various deposits such as Pb, Zn, Cu and iron that are a source of strength for the economy. France operated several deposits during the era of colonialism; among these deposits, we mention the iron index of Djebel Hellel in the wilaya of Sétif. Iron is the most important material in the field of industries. The Djebel Hellel iron index is located about 40 km northwest of Sétif, and about 10 km from the city of Bougaà, it is located in the allochthonous South Sétifien group more precisely it is part of Guergour mining district. The iron mineralization is essentially concentrated in the gray limestone of Turonian age at the top of the massif; it is in the form of veins or karstic pockets carried by the marls of the Djemila nape. The conditions and the characteristics of the mineralization allowed us to deduce that the iron index of Djebel Hellel is of hydrothermal type.
