Abstract

This dissertationexplores the critical issue of the mismatch between the design of affordable housing units in Algeria and the preferences of their occupants. Residents frequently resort to modifying their dwellings, such as demolishing interior walls, and the occupation of balconies, indicating a significant disparity between design and user needs. The primary aim is to address this issue by proposing a novel structural system that enables occupants to dynamically adjust the size of their appartements according to their requirements. Leveraging insights from architecture, technology, and environmental considerations. Drawing from flexible architecture concepts and innovative structural technology, the dissertationintroduces a structural framework that facilitates adaptive housing unit sizes. Moreover, it emphasizes sustainable design principles and the integration of agrivoltaic module HS-B96to enhance energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. Employing a mixed-methods approach, including case studies and architectural simulations, the study develops and evaluates the proposed solution. The findings may contribute to advancing affordable housing design strategies in Algeria, with the potential to improve user satisfaction, optimize resource utilization, and foster sustainable development.
