Abstract

Herbal medicine and complementary medicines in general are ancestral practices, often adopted by patients suffering from chronic or severe pathologies, cases of cancer. The advice and treatments that may be prescribed are important in order to promote an evolution positive of their state of health. It sometimes happens, and despite comprehensive care of the patient, that these advice and treatment are not enough for their well-being. This is how patients increasingly resort to more to complementary medicines like herbal medicine. In order to study the nature and frequency of use of medicinal plants and other treatments used by cancer patients, a study was carried out on 50 patients consultant at the anti-cancer center in Sétif. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study which extended over a period of 4 months (December 2019-March 2020). The information collected using a questionnaire was processed and analyzed by the software IBM-SPSS 21 and EXCEL 2007 The bibliographic approach made it possible to identify the most used plants and to complete their necessary information. These plants have been listed in tables, grouping together identification of plants by their scientific name, parts used, instructions for use and frequency of use. Also, monographs have been developed to serve as a support aid to support patients who use them.
