Abstract
The science of biology encompasses the sum of human knowledge regarding organisms. The branch of biology dealing with animals is known as animal biosystematics, while the study of plants is called botany. Animal biosystematics can be defined as the body of facts and theories derived from the scientific study of animals. Scientific study requires precise, meticulous observation with a specific objective; the scientific study of animal biosystematics seeks to understand the structure and activities of animals. It deals not only with animals in isolation but also with their relationships to both the organic and inorganic worlds. This course material focuses on observing animals within their ecosystems and analyzing their environmental relationships, behaviors, and nutrition. It contributes to species conservation projects, potentially alerting public authorities to the risk of animal extinction. Consequently, this material aims to provide students—whether they intend to pursue research or biodiversity management—with the necessary foundations in phylogeny, biology, and the morphological identification of major animal groups.
