Abstract

Pathophysiology I is essential for a detailed understanding of the processes underlying human disease. This module aims to examine, in a comprehensive and systematic manner, the functional changes resulting from disturbances at the molecular, cellular, and tissue levels. It builds upon foundational knowledge to explore pathological processes—including signaling pathways, cellular interactions and their environment, metabolic dysfunctions, and mechanisms of inflammation and immunity—while also addressing endocrine disruptions of homeostasis. This enables students to develop a deep understanding of disease progression mechanisms and the theoretical foundations necessary for diagnostic reasoning and the development of new therapeutic strategies.
