Abstract

In the present work, we were interested in the study of the adsorption of the dye crystal violet (CV), cationic dye on the samples of cypress and carob. The materials used in this research come from el Eulma and constitute cheap resources , abundant and locally available. The objective of this work is to study the potential use of the mixture (cypress and carob) for the treatment of industrial wastewater loaded with dyes, in a research process applicable to wastewater treatment. The first stage consisted in preparing and determining the physico chemical characteristics of materials. The adsorption performances of the various biosorbents, in their raw state or after having undergone thermal or chemical treatments, have been estimated by the adsorption of crystal violet. The influence of different parameters such as temperature, contact time and the initial concentration was studied. The isoelectric points were also studied. The modeling of the kinetics obeys the Nth order model and the nonlinear Sips model correctly describes the adsorption isotherms for cupcar-cal and langmuir for cupcar- 0.5M. The values of ∆G°, ∆H° and ∆S° show that the adsorption process studied is spontaneous, endothermic and physical.
