Abstract
Scanning of old documents opens new research perspectives such as the restoration of degraded documents and optical character recognition where the image binarization process is required as a pretreatment step. This thesis deals with the binarization of degraded documents via means of communication according to two approaches. The first approach presents a new technique for binarisation of degraded documents. In which we introduced a new technique based on the median filter for the estimation of the background. For the second approach, we present the implementation of the image binarization algorithm using the Otsu method on reconfigurable architecture (FPGA)

La numérisation des documents anciens ouvre de nouvelles perspectives de recherche telles que la restauration des documents dégradés et la reconnaissance optique des caractères où le processus de binarisation d'images est requis en tant qu'étape de prétraitement. Cette thèse traite la binarisation des documents dégradés via des moyens de communication selon deux approches. La première approche, présente une nouvelle technique pour la binarisation des documents dégradés. Dans laquelle nous avons introduit une nouvelle technique basée sur le filtre médian pour l’estimation du background. Pour la deuxième approche, nous présentons l’implémentation de l’algorithme de binarisation d’image en utilisant la méthode de seuillage Otsu sur architecture reconfigurable (FPGA).
