Abstract

The transmission of STDs represents the greatest threat to recipient transfusion safety. This study aims to determine the seroprevalence of infectious markers with a view to contributing to improving transfusion safety through blood donor selection. A prospective study of blood donors was conducted at the CTS of the SETIF University Hospital covering the period from January 2024 to February 2025. The seroprevalence of HIV, HBV, HCV, and syphilis was 0.08%, 2.26%, 0.048%, and 0.14%, respectively. These results confirm the presence of an infectious risk within the blood donor population.
