La revitalisation d’un patrimoine socio-culturel: cas de Hammam el Hatha -médina de Constantine-

Abstract

This thesis is a study of one of the oldest neighborhoods of the medina of Constantine "El Batha area" –Because of its architectural and patrimonial wealth - to bring out the main axis of intervention proposed to improve its condition on the one hand and its development on the other hand. All this is in a homogeneous scenario. One of the axis of the proposed interventions wich we developed through this work is: El Batha hammam. The hammam is a tradition recorded in the Muslim world and in traditional medinas in particular, is a structuring equipment in each traditional area where it is very often placed near the mosque – its entrance should never make directly face to the mosque’s- Therefore, this study is included as part of the awareness of cultural and social heritage without forgeting its architectural appearance (structure, architectural elements, spaces ...). The intervention proposed in this work on El Batha Hammam is a revitalization trial of this architectural heritage and sociocultural mingling enhancement of its patrimony with the demands of modern life.
