Etude Descriptive des Effets Secondaires du Traitement Antituberculeux Dans la Commune d’Aflou

Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis is a public health problem worldwide. Its treatment is based on a set of drugs that can cause many side effects. The objective of this thesis is the study of the profile of tuberculosis patients, to estimate the prevalence of the various side effects due to the antituberculous drugs and the practice of the pharmacological therapeutic follow-up to the patients under anti-tuberculous treatment within the of the EPH Badrea Abedelkader town of Aflou wilaya of Laghouat. Materials and methods: This is a 6-month prospective study of 22 patients on first-line tuberculosis treatment. An exploitation sheet has been drawn up for the follow-up of tuberculosis patients, making it possible to learn about the different types of information relating to patient profiles. Results: Our study shows the prevalence of different forms of tuberculosis by age and sex, treatment history, prescribed treatment protocols and duration of treatment as well as patient outcome profiles. At therapeutic dose 18 patients had developed side effects, with a total of 72 side effects reported, of 1 to 7 side effects per patient. The reported side effects are disturbances of the liver function, hepatotoxicity, skin disorders, digestive disorders, and asthenia. Conclusion: pharmacological therapeutic monitoring is crucial tool, given their ability to provide information on the prevalence of adverse effects and to establish the dose-response relationship
