Abstract
This thesis aims to develop and characterize tin sulfide (SnS) absorber films for photovoltaic applications. The ultrasonic spray technique was chosen for its simplicity and low cost. To prepare the chemical solution, tin chloride and thiourea were used as sources of tin and sulfur, respectively. After deposition, the films underwent various characterizations, including structural, optical, and electrical analyses, which were performed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis spectroscopy, photocurrent measurements, and the Hall effect. XRD results revealed that all the films crystallized in an orthorhombic structure with a preferential orientation along the (111) plane. Optical characterization showed that SnS films exhibit strong absorption in the visible range, with an average grain size of approximately 85 nm and an optical band gap of about 1.3 eV. Photocurrent measurements indicated excellent photocurrent properties for the thin films, which were further enhanced by doping.
