Action de réhabilitation de l’ancienne poste de setif

Abstract

Thanks to its geographic location and dynamism, the city of Sétif is one of the most important cities in Algeria and a major center in its region, rich in a noteworthy historical heritage. This Master’s project focuses on the historic center, specifically the old post office of Sétif, with the objective of its rehabilitation. The study is organized into four parts : the first presents the problem statement, intentions, and objectives of the work. The second part clarifies the concepts related to the topic and examines a reference case. The third part analyzes the study area and carries out an rchitectural study of the building to identify its strengths and constraints. The final part proposes an intervention approach and project programming, drawing on the example of the rehabilitation of the Louvre Post Office in Paris, and develops an action plan for the building, highlighting the interest and implementation methods of the project. This work aims to demonstrate that old buildings, witnesses of the past, can be adapted to accommodate contemporary uses while being preserved and passed on to future generations, thus reconciling heritage and modernity.
