Mésusage des corticoïdes : évaluation des connaissances en Algérie

Abstract

Corticosteroids are one of the most important classes of anti-inflammatories and immune modulators in the therapeutic arsenal to help treat multiple pathologies. Lately their use has increased; they are one of the most prescribed drugs in the world. Our observational statistical epidemiological study, with 170 people online, with the aim of evaluating knowledge of corticosteroid dependence and misuse of corticosteroids. In the medical literature, prednisolone was the most used corticosteroid; according to our study, the use of prednisolone tablets was the most frequent (30%), knowing that women are possibly more interested in weight gain. It is essential to adequately inform patients about the damage associated with this therapy, to advise them to return regularly to consult their doctor and to encourage them to report any adverse effects quickly by following the strategies mentioned above, it is possible to reduce partly avoidable side effects.
