Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the role of information systems in the production process at Sonatrach's Refining and Processing Branch. The study relied on the descriptive-analytical method, using a questionnaire as a data collection tool, which was distributed to a sample of (40) employees, including executives, engineers, specialized technicians, and operational workers. The study found that the level of information system reality at Sonatrach's Refining and Processing Branch, across its three dimensions, was high. The software and applications dimension received the highest rating among the first axis dimensions, followed by the infrastructure dimension with a high rating, and then the human resources dimension with a relatively lower yet still high rating. Similarly, the role of the information system in supporting the production process across its three dimensions was rated very high, with the monitoring and quality assurance dimension recording the highest rating, followed by production planning, while the production efficiency improvement dimension ranked last with a high rating. The study also concluded that the information system reality, across its dimensions, has a statistically significant effect on the production process, with infrastructure having the strongest effect, followed by human resources, and then software and applications.
