Abstract

Urtica dioica is a common medicinal plant known for its urticant effect. It belongs to the Urticaceae family and has been used since antiquity because of its multiple therapeutic properties. , commonly known as (elhorak/elkorras). In order to understand the biological activities of medicinal plants traditionally used by the population, our work focused on the study of the benefits of nettle . A statistical study was carried out with the help of questionnaire cards from two wilaya (Bordj Bou Arrreridj ,Setif ) in order to gather as much information as possible on the use of nettle the investigation revealed that this plant is commonly used in therapy, especially for the management of benign prostatic hypertrophy through its root and to relieve painful joint manifestations with its leaves. Foliage is the most used part (77.2%) in the form of decoction (52.7%). The findings highlight the many health benefits of nettle, which justifies increased interest from the pharmaceutical, parapharmaceutique and agri-food sectors.
