Abstract
The prescription plays a crucial role in a medical act, involving the responsibility of both
prescribers and dispensers. The risks associated with medications extend beyond their adverse
effects; avoidable risks also arise from their prescription. Prescription errors can have serious
consequences for patients’ health. Therefore, ensuring the quality of prescriptions is essential
to optimize healthcare. The aim of this study is to propose recommendations and measures to
improve the quality of prescriptions in Algerian hospital settings. Materials and Methods: A
prospective multicenter comparative study was conducted, analyzing internal prescriptions over
a 20-day period in three public health facilities: the polyclinic of EPSP Médjana (W. de Bordj
Bou Arreridj), CAC Sétif, and EPH Ain Oulmène (W. Sétif). Results: The study focused on
1825 prescriptions distributed as follows: 150 at EPSP Médjana, 600 at EPH Ain Oulmène, 498
at URCC CAC Sétif, and 577 at the CAC Sétif pharmacy. Only 800 prescriptions were deemed
compliant. Details by facility are as follows: 3 compliant out of 150 for EPSP Médjana, 40
compliant out of 600 for EPH Ain Oulmène, 390 compliant out of 498 for URCC CAC Sétif,
and 480 compliant out of 577 for outpatient dispensing at CAC
