Hôtel de France à Sétif : Une nouvelle vie pour un bâtiment historique à travers sa reconversion en projet hôtel et centre de bien-être

Abstract

The historic center is a space deeply rooted in historical and cultural heritage, loaded with strong symbolism. Currently, the historic center of Sétif is facing demolition and reconstruction operations, leading to transformations and changes in activities. It is also experiencing a decline in population, as well as the abandonment and deterioration of some buildings due to legacy issues. There are other alternatives to the demolition and replacement of old structures with new buildings which erase the memory of the place and which, in most cases, accommodate hotels and liberal rofessions. Our study proposes another type of intervention to preserve existing buildings and encourage the return of residents to the historic center.
