Abstract

This thesis focuses on the treatment of liquid effluents from chromium plating baths generated by the activities of BCR Company, located in Aïn El Kbira (Sétif). These effluents contain heavy metals, particularly hexavalent chromium (Cr⁶⁺), which is highly toxic and poses a serious threat to the environment and human health. The study involved physicochemical analysis of the effluents and assessment of appropriate treatment methods, especially the chemical reduction of hexavalent chromium to trivalent chromium, followed by precipitation. Laboratory experiments (Jar Test) were carried out to optimize treatment conditions. The results Demonstrate significant efficiency in reducing pollution loads, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
