Mise en valeur du vieux bâti du Ksar de Bou-Saâda: cas de la place des martyrs

Abstract

The treasure of the city of Bou-Saada resided in its “Ksar” which is known all over the world. This historic inheritance is suffering from architectural and urban degradations and doesn’t profit from any maintenance; if we don’t take emergency measures, the “Ksar” might disappear soon. The use of new materials and modern techniques even the extensions can’t solve the problem, because this might change the old style of buildings. This study aims to preserve the “Ksar” and highlights its cultural heritage. And that could improve both life and work of people who live there and who have all what is necessary to sustain the spirit of “Ksar”: socially culturally and historically. The ambition of this work is firstly to incent local and regional authorities to preserve and show the value of the “Ksar” and secondly to suggest global strategy to save this in valuable witness of the history of Bou-Saada.
