La Museologie Cas D’un Musee D’histoire A El Eulma

Abstract

This thesis explores the importance of culture and museums worldwide, highlighting their crucial role in heritage preservation, education, and social development. However, it also sheds light on the challenges faced by museums and museology in Algeria, with a particular focus on the city of Sétif. Despite the historical and cultural richness of El Eulma, the city suffers from a lack of museums, limiting residents' and visitors' access to its unique heritage. To address this gap, the thesis proposes the creation of a museum project in El Eulma, selecting the site of the Regional Theater Square in the historic center for this project. This choice is justified by the historical significance of the site and its central role in urban life. The project involves constructing an underground museum beneath the Theater Square, allowing the current use of the square to be maintained while adding a new cultural and educational dimension to the city. This underground museum aims not only to preserve and highlight the regional heritage but also to revive and enhance the theatrical movement, considered an essential cultural heritage of El Eulma. By harmoniously integrating the museum into the existing urban fabric, the project aspires to revitalize the public square and strengthen the connection between the local community and its rich cultural heritage.
