Restitution du quartier Lalahoum à la casbah d’Alger: entre exigence de l’ancien et du nouveau

Abstract

The European colonial occupation is still apparent in colonized regions, because of the construction of large urban centers modeled on the cities of the European metroplises, and whose traces can be seen to day. This construction had the effect of marginilazing indigenous towns, which have become places whose memory requires protecting. The phenomenon of marginalization of indigienous communities outside these construction is a major source of problems and hinders the preservation of these areas. One such area, the Casbah of Algiers, is the subject of this master’sthesis. In particular, it will include an analysis of architectural and urban forms of the two urban spaces, with the aim of rethinking a harmonious configuration for their coexistance.
