Abstract

Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting are caused by the stimulation of vomiting centers in the brain by chemotherapy drugs, as well as other factors such as anxiety and stress related to the treatment. To prevent and relieve these symptoms, doctors often prescribe antiemetic medications before, during, and after chemotherapy. These medications can include serotonin receptor antagonists, neurokinin-1 receptor antagonists, corticosteroids, and other drugs. In addition to medications, some non-drug measures can also help reduce nausea and vomiting, such as relaxation, deep breathing, acupuncture, hypnosis, and dietary changes like eating light and frequent meals rather than heavy meals
