Les produits de la ruche : cas de la propolis en médecine traditionnelle

Abstract

This study examines propolis, a bee product with multiple therapeutic benefits, by analyzing its biological properties, production methods, and uses in traditional medicine. After presenting the beehive and various bee products, the research focuses on an ethnobotanical survey conducted in the Sétif province, which demonstrates the widespread use of propolis by herbalists and medicinal plant vendors to treat various pathologies, although its effectiveness depends on the harvesting and preservation techniques employed. The results highlight the need to preserve this traditional know-how while developing more in-depth scientific research to standardize its therapeutic use. Promising prospects include conducting rigorous clinical studies, improving extraction processes, and incorporating propolis into innovative pharmaceutical formulations, which could significantly expand its applications in medical and nutraceutical fields.
